Hello,
I am a Teaching Assistant working currently in London but planning on relocating to York in the next few months. My mum lives in Filey and I’m moving to be closer to her. I’m aiming to rent somewhere in York initially (and then once I’m there consider buying somewhere). Although my salary is around 30k I have substantial savings which can prove easily that I am able to cover rent even if I don’t have a job secured yet when I move. I’ve been looking at rental properties but am really interested in having someone acting on my behalf, researching for me, finding viewings, helping explain my situation to letting agents etc. I searched online and this company came up. Would that be something you could do? And if so, how much do you charge and how does it work? My time frame is that I have given in my notice at work as the 30th of February but I’d really like to have a crossover period where I have started renting in York but still am working in London a bit. I’m happy to be paying the two rents for a couple of months. Ideally I’d like to have a move in date for the York place during the christmas holidays so that I can have done the main aspects of the move then but not in a hurry. Then I’ll have a few more weeks working in London and maybe popping to York at weekends bringing the last of my stuff.
In terms of rent I can pay between 1000 and 1400 pcm. I’d like to be within walking distance of the town centre and really like Bootham as an area. I don’t at all mind a bit of noise. In fact my ideal scenario is a flat on the 1st floor overlooking a street of shops. I am interested in 1 or 2 bed. I am on half term from school from the 17th October to 1st November and will be staying in Filey and able to come to York any day for viewings.
Anyway, I’d be interested to hear if you think you’d be able to help, and what the cost would be.
