Kingston upon Hull

Over the last few years, Hull has transformed itself into a real gem in Yorkshire’s crown, offering an excellent mix of lifestyle, housing, museums, shopping and nightlife. This waterfront city has reinvented itself into a destination that combines its rich heritage with a new and vibrant social scene and is a perfect place to live, work, study and invest.

Characterful period houses, waterfront apartments and stylish properties with spacious gardens are among an abundance of appealing places to live in the city. Attractive neighbourhoods close to the city centre include Hull Marina and the nearby Fruit Market area, The Avenues and the charming Old Town where Georgian townhouses sit side by side with quirky converted properties.

The affluent villages outside of the city, with excellent schools and sizeable, yet affordable properties, offer a quality of life that is unparalleled in many parts of the country.

Just minutes from the city centre, the tree-lined streets of The Avenues feature grand historical properties, popular among the city’s culture-loving residents and close to dozens of restaurants and bars. To the east, Garden Village is another of the city’s desirable leafy areas, while Kingswood in the north of the city is a quiet, safe and thriving community.

For those who prefer a more rural lifestyle, some of Yorkshire’s most picturesque market and coastal towns and villages are easily accessible and within easy commutable distance.

The city has long been known for its strength in the pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing and engineering industries. In recent years however, along with a growth in the Digital and Creative sector, the North and South banks of The Humber Estuary have seen significant development and transformation, seeing record investment in local business, industry and infrastructure projects. Known as the Energy Estuary, The Humber is a natural corridor of trade and has become a magnet for investment from large scale global employers.  Ports & Logistics and Renewable Energy are at the forefront of much of the Humber’s economic activity.

Goole and Howden

Goole and Howden are towns in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Howden sits to the north of the M62, about 16 miles south-east of York and 3 miles north of Goole which in turn sits strategically placed just off the M62 motorway to the south. Both are central within the Yorkshire & Humber region.
Goole is home to the UK’s most in-land port. Its’ industrial past is written into its skyline. Alongside tall cranes and derricks, you’ll find distinctive water towers and proud Victorian buildings. Walk into the centre and you’ll also discover the newer Goole, a bustling vehicle-free shopping centre with its own market hall and an abundance of quiet gardens and parks. Goole has excellent transport links, making it an ideal location for families, commuters and first time buyers. The once quiet port town is now filled with well rated schools, colleges and nurseries and has plenty of amenities by way of bars, restaurants, sports grounds and a leisure centre.
The town of Howden is dominated by its beautiful minster. It has a beautifully preserved Georgian town centre with narrow cobbled streets, restored buildings, attractive shops, historic coaching inns and charming tea rooms, and a small market which takes place each Friday. On the outskirts of the town Howden Marsh is a lovely place for a quiet stroll, with a lake and small or birds and wildlife.
With a broad range of housing, from traditional Victorian terraces to brand new modern housing developments along with their close proximity to the Humber estuary, Goole and Howden are perfectly placed to benefit from the growth of major UK industries. The Humber is home to the UK’s busiest port complex, of which Goole is one of the four major ports. Local Humber Freeport status means that the area is fast becoming a global gateway for international trade and investment and will accelerate the region as a world-leading hub for green energy, clean growth, digital innovation, chemicals and advanced manufacturing. A projected £650m of investment into the Humber area will provide the catalyst for future investment, job growth, regeneration, decarbonisation and innovation.
So it’s no surprise that the area is attracting the attention of large companies looking to expand and increased commercial development in the area is expected to create thousands of new jobs. Siemens Mobility continue to build their £200m rail manufacturing facility whilst local company, Croda Plc, have also built a new worldwide distribution hub. More recently, Finnish company, Metsa Tissue have announced their plans for a new, state-of-the art tissue paper mill in Goole, through a landmark investment of hundreds of millions of pounds.
